Proposal ( 200 words)
The topic of your paper must be a current issue in global health that has been covered in the news since the beginning of this class. You will submit a short proposal to me, describing your topic and giving me a citation of where you read news coverage of the topic. The citation must be for a written source, NOT a TV or new show. Some written online sources that have good news coverage of GH issues: The New York Times, The Guardian (UK), The Globe and Mail (Canada), CDC Global Health in the News, NPR’s Global Health News, Science Daily, and many others.

Your paper must cover these aspects of the issue you choose:Description of the topic; context of the topic—how does it fit into the themes of this course-eg is it an infectious disease, an environmental disaster, a chronic disease, etc.; what has changed that this issue is getting news coverage right now; some historical background on the issue; who is trying to solve it and what are they doing; how can a social determinants lens be applied to your issue (eg- what populations are suffering and how are they uniquely vulnerable, what are the risk factors for the populations affected); what is preventing this issue from being solved immediately? Also, you must conclude with a concluding paragraph.
