Description
T
his week, you will practice creating a hypothesis, independent and dependent variables. First, write the research question you finalized from Week 02 on your topic area of choice. Next, propose a hypothesis, identify the type of hypothesis, and define the independent variable and dependent variables.
Create your own thread within this forum and organize your post like this:
Area of interest: Homelessness
Scope: Currently, over half a million people are homeless in America (Nat’l Alliance to End Homelessness, 2015). On any given night, over 100,000 people are homeless in Fairfield County, Connecticut (Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness, 2016). Individuals who are homeless are at risk of infectious disease, poor nutrition, mental health issues, violence and a range of other issues (Institute of Medicine, 2012).
Research question: What intervention strategies reduce health risks to homeless adults?
Hypothesis: Safe, supportive housing programs that offer comprehensive health, mental health and substance abuse treatment and the opportunity for relationship building reduce health risks associated with homelessness.
Hypothesis type: Directional hypothesis
Independent variable: Supportive housing intervention
Dependent variables: Infectious disease, poor nutrition, untreated mental health, safety concerns
