Write a critical reflective essay, subjected to a maximum of 2250 words (excluding references), based on a recent news article or blogpost of your choice in relation to a country/social context that you are familiar with. The subject matter of the chosen news piece must relate to an area of equality, diversity, discrimination and disadvantage of a minority individual or social group except ethnic minority women.
Your reflective essay must demonstrate why this chosen issue merits a critical discussion, based on your learnings from the Managing Diversity in Business course.
The following is a set of indicative guidance useful to develop your reflective essay:
Select an issue/problem addressed by a news article or a blogpost (You must *NOT USE the same social group ie. 🚫(Ethnic minority women)❌ that your coursework 1 essay was focused on).
❌🚫Don’t use ethnic minority women as the social group because I have already used it in _my first essay which I have done earlier.🚫
Provide a link or a copy of the news article as an appendix with the essay
Provide a brief account of the news article summarising the key themes and highlighting the problem of the chosen piece of news/blogpost concerns (250 words max).
Identify the particular social group(s) the chosen news/blogpost refers to (50 – 100 words).
Explain specific nature, challenges, support and legal framework (or the absence of legal protection and support) in relation to the particular social context concerning the problem and the social group the identified problem refers to. Provide references to support your position/claims where appropriate (500 words max).
Literature Review & Reflective Discussion: This section partly formulates a literature review (besides the critical discussion). Identify, explain and use the theories and concepts that you have learned under this course in particular, any other subjects or of your own research to problematise, critically analyse and demonstrate the reasons and causes of the issue in the news article. Provide references to support/validate your position/claims where appropriate.
Consider, if the problem/issue that the chosen article concerns is an organisational issue or a societal/cultural issue: if it is the former, then examine how the particular issue relates to wider society/culture and if it is the former, how it is likely to produce/reproduce organisational disadvantage (1300 words max).
Provide a reflective conclusion that might briefly suggest (if there is any) solutions/possible actions to the problem/issue (200 – 300 words max).
