Choose one text from any modality (book, film, web site etc.) and focus on a specific argument within the text. You can either agree or disagree with the central argument in the text. Your argument has to be supported by concrete evidence.
Also, try to focus on a specific issue that you can relate to in a social sphere (egs. Race, class, sexuality, gender etc.). Select one main argument and analyze it as deeply as you can, looking at the all the sides of the argument.
This paper can be discipline-specific. You can write on any topic within your specific area of study. Alternatively, you can choose a topic that is of personal interest to you and outside the purview of your Major area of study.

You can write on any topic, provided it is backed well with a coherent argument and support.
Essay Guidelines:
– The paper must be 4-5 pages long (excluding the Work cited page).
– Follow the MLA guidelines [1 inch margins, 12 pt. font, work cited page etc.].

Work Cited:
– You are required to have four outside secondary sources, preferably from the
Academic Search Premier.
– You will have one primary text for this paper. This text can be from any
medium (visual, aural, or written)
