Academic Article with Explanation: Find a peer-reviewed academic article with statistical content and write a one-half to one-page explanation of some of the statistical content. Pdf copy of the article must be submitted. This means an actual file containing the article. A link to the article is insufficient and will reduce your mark.
Independent data analysis project: You will gather data on something that interests you and demonstrate analytical skills. Past students have observed and measured people, animals, birds or vehicles, expenditures, personal behaviors (screen time, exercise, walking or driving), and child or pet behaviors. Performance measures provided by games is an especially easy and ethical form of data to obtain. Do not gather personal data from other people. Use public observations or individual measurements. Published sports data is not acceptable. The project should be submitted as a written report or slide presentation, following the usual structure of research presentations or articles.
Small Items or Side Projects: A simple analysis that interests you, a data or graphing experiment, or a commentary on something relevant to the analysis you encountered could be included as a small or side item to enhance your portfolio. These may be less formal in style than the Independent Project.
