The purpose of this assignment is for you to gain experience in keeping a 2-day food
record, using a computer to analyze the nutrient content of your diet, interpreting the
analysis data, researching two nutrients (one vitamins and one minerals), and setting
goals as to how to improve your diet. The assignment is divided into 4 parts (A, B, C and
D).
For this assignment you will be using a free nutrient tracker program called
“Cronometer”. This is available from Cronometer.com and is also available through an
app.
WEEK 2: PART A: Recording your dietary intake (2.5%)
Step 1: Create a user Profile.
Cronometer will ask you to set up your profile and your weight goal (if you wish). Save
the profile in Cronometer as a pdf and upload it into Turnitin.
Step 2: Record your Food and Beverage Intake for two days.
Use the Food Intake Forms in this document to accurately record your food and beverage
intake for two days. You will need to write down everything you eat and drink during
this 2-day period. These days do NOT have to be consecutive days. Use one Diet Record
Form per day.
Save your completed Food Intake forms as a “Microsoft Word” or pdf file and unload it
into Turnitin.

WEEK 3: PART B: Entering your intake into Cronometer (2.5%)
Step 1: Entering your Dietary Information into Cronometer
When you enter a food into Cronometer, make sure you choose the closest serving size
to match the amount you consumed. Look over the choices and choose the closest
match to your item. Record the amounts of foods you consumed (e.g. 8 oz of skim milk,
1 slice of whole wheat bread, 1 teaspoon of mustard, 3 oz fried chicken breast with skin,
etc.) Look over the choices and choose the closest match to your item. Be careful in
choosing your serving size (amount) you consume. Save the data in Cronometer each
day in a file as a pdf. Upload this file into Turnitin.

Week 5: PART C: Completing Table 1 (2.5%)
Step 1: Take a look at all the information you generated from your data.
Accurately transfer the nutrient intake data from Cronometer into Table 1 (provided) for
each day you recorded your food and beverage intake. We are not looking at all the
nutrients listed in Cronometer, only the nutrients listed in Table 1.
Step 2: How well did you meet your DRI/RDA?
Indicate if your intake of a specific nutrient was less than 75% or greater than 300% of
the Dietary Reference Intake/Recommended Dietary Allowance by highlighting the
nutrient(s).
Save your completed Table 1 as a “Microsoft Word” or pdf file and unload it into
Turnitin.
