Incorporating cultural competence in nursing allows healthcare clinicians to provide the best care to patients while exhibiting cultural awareness of their beliefs, race, and values. Cultural competence and humility prepare nurses to empathize with their patients and attend to their needs holistically.
This assignment will consist of three components: Annotated Bibliography, Care Plan & Reflection.
Objectives
- Identify a wide range of Religious Preferences, Language Barriers, Nutrition and Dietary Practice, Pain, Treatment and Medications Management, and Family Roles/Psychosocial Norms literature relative to a specific culture.
- Critically analyze references for quality and relevance to the topic.
- Summarize your learning based on the literature review.
Part 1: Annotated Bibliography. Develop an annotated bibliography that elaborates on the chosen culture that addresses Religious Preference, Language Barriers, Nutrition and Dietary Practice, Pain, Treatment and Medications Management, and Family Roles and Psychosocial Norms. Annotate approximately six readings and briefly summarize the readings’ content. Please submit your annotated bibliography with articles in alphabetical order.
Part 2: Reflection- Summarize your learning process and how implementing cultural competency and humility can impact your patient’s care.
