Solved: Analysis- Pareto diagram/Fishbone diagram

In assignment 4 you will be ranking the time/waste in your process and getting to the root cause of one of your biggest wastes in the process.

Create a Pareto diagram for the time study data.  Each process step should have its own time value and the time for each process step should be visually depicted as bars on your Pareto chart ranked from longest to shortest time.

Create a Fishbone diagram for the largest form of waste or your longest process step.  This will help you understand the root causes of this waste that if identified will reduce or even eliminate this waste.

Let’s say your overall morning routine process time is 90 minutes.  In your time study, you noticed that making breakfast is 40 minutes, which is your largest Pareto bar.  In your waste audit, you realize that more than half of your breakfast-making activity is waste due to excessive motion waste.  Put in the head of your fishbone diagram “wasted motion in breakfast making routine”.  You will then flesh out in the diagram all of the causes of this wasted motion so you can target them for elimination in your rapid experiments assignment next week!

Lessons learned: Please write a brief paragraph sharing your reflections/lessons learned from doing this assignment.  It should include how you personally benefited from doing this assignment. You should address these questions. Have you explored other alternative countermeasures? Can you show how your proposed actions will address the root cause of your problems? Can you justify why your proposed actions are necessary?
