General Instructions
- Unzip the file PacketTracerAndLabs.zip under “IT Infrastructure Project Assignments”.
- In the zip file PacketTracerAndLabs.zip, install Packet Tracer using the .exe file “Cisco Packet Tracer 6.2 for Windows Student Version.exe”.
- Open the PDF in the zip file for an introduction to Packet Tracer.
- You must use the Packet Tracer version 6.2, provided in the Project instructions zip file. Instructors cannot open other versions due to licensing and will not be able to open incompatible versions, resulting in loss of points.
- Take progressive screenshots that show completion of your work in Packet Tracer. Please see the example screenshot for how to create proper screenshots for your assignments and projects.
- Leave all passwords blank on devices in Packet Tracer so that your assignment can be graded properly.
- Complete all assignment deliverables in one (1) Cisco Packet Tracer file.
- Submit your one (1) Packet Tracer file for credit.
- Submit one (1) Microsoft Word document with your honesty statement, compliant screenshots, and all references used.
Compliant Screenshot Example and Instructions
Replace the picture that identifies you with an authentic picture not found on the Internet. Include multiple side by side windows of routers, switches, PCs, etc. For example, show the before and after routing table of a router to verify your static route or routing protocol configuration is correct. Ensure the screenshot is visible, includes all elements in the example. Include all screenshots in one (1) Microsoft Word document and submit this with your assignment to the learning management system.

Honesty Statement
I, Amy Smith, did not copy any of the following writing or designs or configurations or code from any source. I did not use any automated tools, artificial intelligence, or person to assist in any way in completing this work. All writing, design work, configurations, and code is 100% my own, original, and created solely for this class. Less than 5% of this work contains direct quotes or paraphrases. I agree to receive an academic violation if TurnItIn matches exist of over 10% or I have copied existing Packet Tracer solutions in any form from any person or source.
Part 1 Assignment

A new organization named <Your first name, Your last name>, requires the design and implementation of an IT infrastructure that supports over 500 of its employees. The local area network (LAN) design should support a minimum of three (3) buildings at three (3) separate sites. IT has determined it will use multi area OSPF as its LAN networking protocol. Departments need access to key resources such as a DNS server and a website on the Internet. The example network topology within the instructions should be scaled to meet the future needs of this organization.
Assignment Requirements
- Open a brand new Cisco Packet Tracer file.
- Create the assignment network topology in Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Use proper NIC hardware for each port and assign proper cables between the devices.
- Create a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel and add this to your Microsoft Word document that shows all devices, interfaces, IP addresses, subnet masks, wildcard masks, default gateways and any other relevant information. For example:
- Design and assign proper IP addresses per the topology to all NIC cards on the routers, switches, servers, and PCs. Use efficient subnets. IPv4 or IPv6 can be used.
- Label the NIC cards in Packet Tracer with their assigned IP addresses.
- Design and configure a fully operational network with the multi area open shortest path first (OSPF) protocol in Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Design, configure, and implement a minimum of three (3) unique OSPF areas using a minimum of four (4) routers.
- Add a minimum of four (4) switches with laptops or PCs on each switch that can test the complete operation of multi area OSPF.
- Add an Internet at the network edge or core layer of the network topology that includes a minimum of one router, one switch, and one web server. Ensure all laptops can access the web server and its websites using proper DNS records.
- Once each of the assignment requirements are completed, show proper screenshots that validate the network is completely functional per the latter objectives.
- For additional help, please complete the example configurations from the textbook.

*Note, this is an example only. Please do not simply copy the example network topology. Scale it to meet the future needs of the organization. It is necessary to add to and modify this network topology to meet the assignment requirements.

A new organization named <Your first name, Your last name>, requires the design and implementation of an IT infrastructure that supports over 500 of its employees. The local area network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) design needs to support a minimum of four (4) departments such as accounting and human resources. Departments need access to key resources such as a DNS server and a website on the Internet. The local area network (LAN) design should support a minimum of three (3) buildings at three (3) separate sites. IT has determined it will use multi area OSPF as its LAN networking protocol. In addition, it will use eBGP for all external networks including the Internet. The example network topology within the instructions should be scaled to meet the future needs of this organization.
Assignment Requirements
- Add to and modify the part 1 Cisco Packet Tracer file as necessary.
- Create the new Part 2 assignment network topology in Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Use proper NIC hardware for each port and assign proper cables between the devices.
- Create a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel that shows all devices, interfaces, IP addresses, subnet masks, wildcard masks, default gateways and any other relevant information. Add the spreadsheet to your Microsoft Word document. For example:
- Design and assign proper IP addresses per the topology to all NIC cards on the routers, switches, servers, and PCs. Use efficient subnets. IPv4 or IPv6 can be used.
- Label the NIC cards in Packet Tracer with their assigned IP addresses.
- For the WAN, design, create, and implement a minimum of three (3) external BGP peers in three (3) different autonomous systems (AS) using proper routers. These must be external BGP networks operating over public IP subnets in contrast to private IP subnets.
- Connect a minimum of one fault tolerant data center and two LANs to the eBGP WAN networks.
- Design a minimum of one data center. Include at least a working DNS server and web server in the design that can communicate with all LAN laptops/PCs.
- Once each of the assignment requirements are completed, show proper screenshots that validate the network is completely functional per the latter objectives.
- For additional help, please complete the example configurations from the textbook.
