For this week’s discussion board, you will build upon previous discussion board.  In the previous discussion board you identified a clinical problem and discussed the significance it has to your clinical practice.  Now it is time to come up an intervention you think may help improve this problem. You will now fine tune and develop your research question using PICO (t).   Please post your research problem/question using the PICO method in this order:

P= patient or population

I= Intervention

C= Comparison group

0= Outcome

T= Time

Then state the research problem (these are examples and you may tweak them to fit your topic) :

In ____________________(P), how does ____________________ (I) compared to ____________________(C) affect _____________________(O) within ___________(T)?

or

Are____________________ (P), who have ____________________ (I) compared with those without ____________________(C) at ____________ risk for/of ____________________(O) over ________________(T)?

Please remember your outcome must be measurable.  Also, you do not have to have a comparison group or time if it does fit your topic.

The last part of the discussion is identifying search terms you could use for your research problem. Create 3-5 search terms for your topic. These are words that when put into the search bar, will locate articles related to your topic. Use the key words that you’ve identified from your PICO question to start searching. You might start your search broadly, with just a few key words, and then add more once you see the scope of the literature. If the initial search doesn’t produce many results, you can play with removing some key words and adding more granular detail.
