DIRECTION: You are the PR person for Interfaith Human Services.As you know, Interfaith Human Services and Faith Centre have joined forces to fundraise. They will split the money raised through their “Over the Edge Centre County” fundraiser Thursday, October 11.They have contracted with Over the Edge Global to run the event.
GOAL: Write a news release for the event. It will be distributed to Centre County and Pennsylvania media.
Purpose: To make people aware of the event, cause, increase participation,increase donation.
INFORMATION:
Use the information on Interfaith Human Services and Faith Centre’s website & flier about the event and the purpose. Since this is a “real” event, all of your information must be real and accurate. Be consistent with names. Include both organizations on the letter head, but select Interfaith Human Services as the lead org under the “News Release” heading.

Day of event details:
Edgers going over from 9 a.m. – 3: 30 p.m.
Volunteers will be there. Each edger will be equipped with a Go-Pro. Edgers are free to wear costumes.
OTE staff are the only ones handling the Edgers and the rappel equipment.
Board members will be present
VIP party on Wednesday night before the event sponsored by Hyatt and Federal Tap House. The VIP party is for Edgers, key volunteers and sponsors

Learning Outcome: To select news worthy information to distribute to media using a basic PR tool, while framing the PR (client) message, and adhering to PR and reporting guidelines.
