Report: Organisational context and impact

Task:

Write a report (context and impact) which investigates a human services organisation in your local area. Describe some social, policy and economic factors that may create advantage or disadvantage for the target populations of this human service organisation.  You will make connections between features of the organisation and the people it provides services for. Identify key debates, ideas, theories and concepts.

1. Executive Summary(approx. 200 words)

In this section, state the title of the organisation and provide an overview of what you have covered in the sections below. Include main ideas or conclusions you have come to in regard to the problem/s and solutions identified in your summary.

2. Organisation profile(approx. 500 words)

In this section describe the organisation and outline the main profile information and features. Include:

• Type of organisation
• Location (metropolitan, regional, rural, remote);
• Service user population (for example Indigenous services or services for older people; migrants and refugees; children)
• Services offered
• Any social factors (e.g. distance to services; economic disadvantage; disability) that are relevant to the organisation’s activities.

3. Impact of social policy and economic frameworks(approx. 500 words)

In this section, discuss impacts that social and wider economic policy might have on your chosen organisation and the services it can deliver. How might aspects such as New Public Management (NPM), metro-centric service delivery and planning, or globalisation either advantage or disadvantage the organisation and/or its service users?

4. Conclusion: Problems and possible solutions(approx. 200 words)

In this section, summarise what you have found and discussed above and make at least one recommendation to help solve a problem identified in section 3. Give reasons why your solution(s) is sound by making connections to information provided.
