Based on the health-related bill you selected, develop a 1- to 2-page Legislation Testimony/Advocacy Statement

Age of the Bill:  Ideally, it should not be too old, you can use reasonable judgment, but a general rule is no more than 3-5 years old or so unless you have good reason to use it as an exemplar or have already run it by me. If you do decide to work with an older bill, just include in the paper your rationale as to why you felt it a priority to select a bill that is old over something more recent. There is no right or wrong…the main thing I want to see is that you are critically thinking about the work.

 

 

The Amendment you are Recommending: For the assignment you are to recommend at least one amendment you would make to the bill.  Since this is a recommendation you are making, this means something new you are recommending be added, and not referring to an amendment already in the process of review for the bill you selected.

 

 

The Sources: As you develop the Part 2 section of the paper, the assignment indicates you should incorporate the synthesize two outside sources into your narrative as you justify your position, discuss how to logically address opponents, and then provide examples. In total, for this Part 2 you should end up having those 2 outside sources plus 2-3 course specific sources integrated as supporting literature when you are done.
