Description
The summary of what I need, just pros and cons, what they do, etc, of a liaison: The volunteer liaison has their full focus on the current volunteers, recruitment of new ones, and, in most cases, the experience to know what to do with ones that aren’t working out so well. This takes pressure off each department that volunteers may be working in, when an office is already over worked they don’t always have the time to check in and see how a volunteer is feeling about the position, or if they’re up to speed. The liaison is there to take care of these things and keep the department running smoothly. A Volunteer Liaison position is beneficial when this is a contract position, so they are free to take the recommendations and complaints from the volunteers to the upper management without fear of reprisal. Many organizations do not understand the worth of a volunteer, and unfortunately, they do not keep this opinion to themselves, leaving volunteers to feel unwanted or as less of a person on the job. If an organization chooses to utilize a contractor, or writing a contract for a direct hire, the contract can be specific in what exactly is needed. This includes keeping social media volunteer opportunities up to date, utilizing what is going to recruit the most personnel, meetings with volunteers and staff members, and how to deal with disciplinary issues.
