Assignment 1 consists of fifteen questions based on the content of Chapters 1 through 7 in the Tuckwell and Jaffey textbook.
This assignment will require you to submit a formal report of your responses to the questions as a Word document (do not submit PDFs or other formats) submitted through the Assignment 1 Turn It In drop box on the course Moodle site. Do not repeat the questions in your submission but make sure that you number your responses consistent with the assignment.
For a submissions to earn a grade of 80 and higher it must identify clearly the theories, concepts and practices that are relevant to each question. They will also cover all aspects of what is stipulated as required in each question. They will have no errors of grammar, spelling, citation, referencing, or writing style. And finally, they will exhibit an appropriate level of professionalism in terms of their formatting and they will have evidence of secondary research to support the responses.

Questions:
11. Vertical integration and horizontal integration are corporate strategies. Explain each of these strategies and provide an example for each. Elaborate on each of your examples.
12. Would you describe A&W as having a socially responsible marketing orientation? Are their actions driven by corporate philosophy or marketing? Are they “greenwashing” or are they sincere? Support your answer with specific examples.
13. You are a brand manager at Proctor and Gamble. You have just received a copy of the corporate plan. The corporation will be continuing to follow a penetration strategy. As the brand manager, you must now develop a marketing plan for your brand. Identify the four fundamental marketing strategies and explain how each will or will not support the corporate penetration strategy.
14. As the marketing manager of a local shopping mall, you have been asked to prepare a report outlining the external influences that should be considered in conducting a situation analysis. Describe each category of external influences, provide an example of a trend for each category, and explain how such an influence could impact the mall.
15. Describe the steps you took in a recent extensive buying purchase made by yourself or your family. What marketing activities at the various steps were done by the business[s] to help you to make the final decision? What could they have done better and how?
