Instructions
For this discussion post, find ten numbers of “significance”. Explain what the ten numbers represent and explain why they are significant to you. Make sure you share the source of your information. (For example; you can find the cost of a gallon of milk in ten states across the country.) Then complete the following:
List the 10 numbers in order from smallest to largest
Find and label the mean, mode, median, midrange, sample standard deviation, population standard deviation, sample variance, and population variance. Use Excel to complete this work. Please take a screenshot and share it with the class.
Hints on how to complete this:
List 10 numbers in A1 to A10 on an Excel worksheet from Smallest to Largest.
In cell A11 type =average(a1:a10) and hit enter Note this is the mean.
In Cell A12 type =mode(a1:a10) and hit enter.
In Cell A13 type =median(a1:a10) and hit enter
In Cell A14 type =(a1+a10)/2 and hit enter. Note this is the midrange
In Cell A15 type =stdev.s(a1:a10) and hit enter. Note this is the sample standard deviation.
In Cell A16 type =stdev.p(a1:a10) and hit enter. Note this is the population standard deviation.
In Cell A17 type =var.s(a1:a10) and hit enter. Note this is the sample variance.
In cell A18 type =var.p(a1:a10) and hit enter. Note this is the population variance.
Please make sure you label these quantities!
Please remember that you need to post your initial response by Thursday night at midnight. Then please respond to at least two of your classmates by Sunday night at midnight.
You will earn 6 points for a well-thought-out initial response to the discussion question and 4 points for well-thought out responses to your classmates.
