The purpose of this assignment is to explore the personal attributes of effective leaders, leadership theories, and leadership roles. This will help you to determine which specific traits you find most important not only in leaders but those you find necessary to develop in your own leadership style.
Task(s)
Read OER Chapter 2, Leadership Attributes, and OER Chapter 3, Leadership and Management Roles in Professional Nursing (the chapters are attached). Also, complete the Leadership style survey. Answer the following discussion forum questions in your main post:
Begin by identifying and interviewing a nurse leader in your work area or one that you admire.
Write up some questions in advance to keep you on track. Often, without preparation, the discussion can get off track. Set questions will help you with time and content. Questions should focus on leadership style, challenges as a leader, philosophy, and problem-solving techniques.
Create a summary of your interview and analyze the leadership philosophy, leadership style, and problem-solving techniques. Reference a specific leadership style from your text or another scholarly source.
Post this summary to the discussion board and include reflective points. Ensure you do not identify the leader by name or work location for privacy’s sake.
