Your Task
Analyse a given contemporary business innovation and record a video presentation which discusses this innovation
in the context of organisational change.
Assessment Description
This is an individual assessment.
Based on the notion of innovation and change being the key to business success, the first four (4) weeks of this
subject discusses the types of change and innovation in terms of the scope and pace of change, along with various
models and frameworks which help to explain these changes. This assessment requires students to apply these
concepts to analyse and discuss one (1) business innovation which is to be chosen from a given list of recent
successfully commercialised innovative ideas. (see instructions which follow).
Along with developing research, analytical and presentation skills, this assessment specifically aligns with the
following subject learning outcomes:
LO1: Analyse the models and frameworks that guide the principles of effectively leading change and
innovation in organisations.
LO2: Evaluate organisational structures in an international context in relation to ethically managing innovation
across borders.
LO3: Evaluate the risks inherent in the change management process, the reasons why
change fails and how these can be overcome.

Assessment Instructions
This assessment should be carried out in the following steps:
Students are to access the “2023 International Innovation Awards” web site at https://innovationaward.org/,
and click on the “All Winners” tab. Read about each of the innovations and then select one (1) innovation
which is of most interest [to you] and investigate the innovation further.
Students are then to prepare a 5-minute recorded presentation, with maximum 6 Powerpoint slides, which
discusses the innovation they have chosen, by responding to the following questions.
- Briefly discuss your understanding of this chosen innovation, give reasons why you consider this to
be a “true” innovation compared with the other winners. - Discuss the benefits of this innovation in terms of both the business and other stakeholders.
- Identify and discuss the driver/s for this change / innovation and classify the driver/s using one model
discussed in this subject. - Using at least two of the models of “types of change” discussed in this subject, identify and discuss
the “type” of change in terms of the scope, pace, predictability and other factors. - Discuss the extent to which you believe good leadership has played in both the innovative idea and
the successful implementation of this innovation.
Students should record the presentation in a professional conversational style, ensuring that they appear on
camera, and the slides are clearly displayed.
The final slide should be a reference list and must contain a minimum of five (5) scholarly references which
have been cited in the body, along with sources of any company specific information. Refer also Generative
AI Traffic Lights which follows.
Submit the recorded presentation to MyKBs Kaltura by the due date/time.
