Objective: To design an engaging and informative poster that delves into the various aspects of food culture, using a specific food item as a case study to illustrate these concepts.
Guidelines: (Individual poster, each student submits one poster)
- Content: The poster should include the following sections:
- Specific Food: Choose a food item that reflects cultural identity, innovation, health benefits, and international exchange. This food should also have a connection to a specific religion.
- Food & Culture: Discuss the cultural significance and societal role of the selected food. Including eating customs, culinary methods, and traditional dishes.
- Innovation & Global Reach: Discuss innovative preparation techniques and the global spread of the selected food. Include recent trends.
- Digital Influence: Explore digital technology’s impact on your chosen food’s culture including online recipes and digital cookbooks.
- Religious Connection: Analyse how religion influences dietary practices related to the chosen food.
- Health & Nutrition: Outline nutritional benefits and their contribution to a balanced diet; include current dietary trends.
- Cultural Exchange: Describe how this food’s culture has been shared globally; include examples of fusion dishes or adaptations.
- Design:
- Size: The poster should be designed on an A1 size paper (594 x 841 mm or 23.4 x 33.1 in), adjustable as needed.
- Layout: Organize content logically with clear headings/subheadings.
- Visuals: Incorporate relevant high-quality visuals labelled appropriately.
- Font Requirement: Use Arial or Helvetica font size 12 for the text body and size 14-16 for headings/subheadings ensuring readability from a distance
- Arrangement Space Details: Ensure at least a one-inch margin around each side for a clean presentation
- References: Cite all sources of information used in the poster using a consistent citation style.
- Student Information: Include your name and student ID at the bottom of the poster.
- Submission Details: Convert your poster into a PDF file and submit the soft copy of your poster into iSpace. Ensure that your submission is successfully uploaded on or before 12nd April by 5 pm.
